  • 1954

    African Cotton opened doors in 1954 as Absorbent Cotton Industries

  • 1960

    The company changed its name to African Cotton Industries Limited maintaining leadership status in all the product range it produces

  • 1999

    Major investment to upgrade the Cotton wool division was implemented

  • 2001

    Toilet tissue converting plant installed leading to the birth of high quality Tena toilet paper. The key flagship brand for African Cotton Industries and the leading toilet paper brand in the country for a decade

  • 2002

    Tena toilet paper operations was relocated to Nairobi, the economic hub of the East & Central African Region

  • 2005

    African Cotton commissioned the Sanitary towels ultra manufacturing plant

  • 2008

    The company started secondary toilet paper and napkin converting facility

  • 2009

    African Cotton invested in a new 5 - acre operation facility in Nairobi

  • 2011

    African Cotton partnered with the Ministry of Education in a major life changing initiative to provide sanitary pads to over 3 million girls in support of girl child education in Kenya
